Tien Wen Abstract Sculptures
Taiwanese, b. 1963
Born in Taipei, Tien Wen grew up with a respect for the arts and traditional Chinese culture. She left Taiwan for France in the late 1980s, and has since devoted her artistic work to sculpture and ceramics. Her work revolves around the idea of abstraction, purity and the interplay of shapes and volumes, contrasting curves with lines and roundness with angles. Her minimalist works highlight the fragile balance sought by the artist in the form of her sculptures. Tien Wen uses and blends several techniques, including the Japanese Raku technique.
