Louis Comfort Tiffany Gold Favrile Art Glass Floriform Pedestal Vase
By Louis Comfort Tiffany
Located in Cincinnati, OH
This elegant iridescent gold Favrile art glass vase was made by Tiffany Studios operating under the direction of Louis Comfort Tiffany. Tiffany Favrile Glass was first offered to the public in 1893 and this hand-blown piece dates to the mid-to-late 1920s. The vase has a warm golden glow and was crafted with a wide domed pedestal base that gives way to a ribbed body. The body flares slightly as it rises and transitions dramatically to a wide shallow neck that terminates in a scalloped-edge rim. As seen in the accompanying photographs, the well-balanced piece is nicely proportioned and displays beautifully. The vase stands 8.375" as measured to its tallest point and is 3.75" across the rim. The foot is 4" from edge to edge. The piece is free of chips and cracks and is presented in original condition with no restoration or repair. The underside bears a typical Tiffany Studios late production compound number signature reading L. C. Tiffany Inc. - Favrile and includes shape number 1548 followed by serial number 3164 N. This LC Tiffany Favrile vase...

Tiffany Furnaces Gold Favrile Glass Vase with Enameled Bronze Base
By Tiffany Furnaces
Located in Cincinnati, OH
Tiffany Furnaces Favrile glass and enameled bronze vase. This striking iridescent glass and enamel trumpet-shaped bud vase was made by the factory of renowned artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany. A trained painter, L.C. Tiffany was the son of Tiffany & Company co-founder Charles Lewis Tiffany and proved to be a multi talented artisan who worked with a variety of media including gemstones, enamel, metal, and glass. Tiffany first established his company as Louis C. Tiffany and Co., Associated Artists in 1879, eventually renaming it Tiffany Studios in 1900 and creating Tiffany Furnaces in 1902. The company's pioneering techniques with glass - guided by skilled English immigrant Arthur J. Nash - are particularly well known. Rather than painting images onto glass, Tiffany artisans used a patented production method in which chemicals and metallic compounds were applied to molten glass. The resulting colored 'Favrile' glass had a distinctive iridescent appearance and was used to great effect in lamp shades, serving pieces and vases along with other decorative items. This antique Favrile Tiffany art glass...
