Modern Black Leather Modular Sectional Tappo Sofa by John Mascheroni for Vecta
By Vecta Group, John Mascheroni
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome vintage Modern black leather 6-piece modular sectional Tappo sofa by John Mascheroni for Vecta Contract. It retains its original tags. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all of the leather has been cleaned & reconditioned but there is a small poke or indention (not a hole) on one back, a couple of seats have some crazing in the leather, & the leather shows signs of age-related use in places. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Design 1973. Production, 1986. Is there anything more BEAUTIFUL than black leather?? Well, actually… NO!! ESPECIALLY when it’s wrapped around an INCREDIBLE vintage modular sectional Tappo sofa by John Mascheroni for Vecta!!! That’s right!!!!! This is a wonderful black leather modular sectional Tappo sofa by John Mascheroni for Vecta Contract composed of 6 pieces including 2 wedges and 4 straight pieces. It was originally designed in 1973 by John Mascheroni where it won “Best New Seating” design… and after you experience its luscious leather foam filled cushions and low profile, ergonomically pleasing composition… it’s EASY to see how it won that award!!! And talk about versatility OVERLOAD!!! It is VERY modular. We have photographed it in a couple of different setups ideal for a fantastic seating situation in your living or family room, sitting area, or maybe your entertainment room. Group it with a gorgeous chaise lounge, marvelous coffee table, a gorgeous pair of end tables, a fabulous accent or side table, or all the above!!! Comfort, versatility, spectacular style, and it’s BURSTING with an unmeasurable Modern MAGNIFICENCE you are sure to ADORE for years to come!!! John Mascheroni was born in 1932 and has been designing furniture since he began his working career. He studied Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and he worked at his father’s furniture factory where he learned to create reproductions of European antiques. Eventually he opened his own design practice with a showroom in New York’s elite D & D Building. He had many influences over the years including Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Mies van der Rohe, & Jean-Michel Frank but stated that he was most influenced by Charles & Ray Eames & George Nelson and their awareness of the human body and the ability to design furnishings ergonomically appropriate. His famed 1966 design of the “Tubo Table” is in a collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Today he is a spirited 90 years old and has been working with Lazar Furniture...

Eight Charles Gibilterra designed Mid-Century Modern Tubular Dining Chairs
By Vecta Group
Located in Dallas, TX
This striking set of eight Tubular dining chairs designed by Charles Gibilterra for Vecta Contract Inc. The sleek lines of the chairs combine perfectly with the curves of the cantilever to create a classic vintage silhouette. It is comprised of a single piece of chromed steel tubing which is bent and curved to create its cantilevered frame. The seats and backrests are professionally upholstered in a warm tan colored leatherette. This is one of the seldom cases in which the luxurious comfort of an upholstered chair has been successfully united with a tubular steel construction. Their superior style complements classic, traditional, mid-century modern, modern, and chic design. A must have for interior lovers with a heart for Italian design! Vecta Contract Inc. founded in 1959 Grand Prairie, TX. It is a result of Brunswick Corporation divesting its School Division and Burk-Action Division. Vecta focuses on architectural furnishings (e.g. lobbies, lounges, conference rooms for universities, hospitals, and other public buildings). Collaborated with noted designers like John Mascheroni, Duncan Burke...

Questions About Vecta Group Furniture
  • 1stDibs ExpertOctober 24, 2024
Many furniture lovers believe that an ergonomic chair is worth it. The term “ergonomic” means that when designing a chair, the creator considered human anatomy, seeking to engineer the piece in such a way that the end result would provide optimal support. As a result, ergonomic chairs may make sitting for long periods of time more comfortable. Shop a variety of ergonomic office chairs on 1stDibs.
