Vicente García de Paredes was born in Spain in 1845. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in València, in Madrid where he copied works of the masters in the Prado Museum and later in Rome on a scholarship awarded from the city of Madrid. De Paredes made his debut in 1879 at an exhibition in València where he won a bronze medal. He later exhibited at the Paris Salons and won another award at the Paris World's Fair in 1900.
