Born in England in 1942 Walter “Wally” John Beauvais was apprenticed to his father Charles Henri; an established French artist with studios in London and Marseilles. Although always considered an Englishman, it is in the French Impressionist style that his most desirable works are painted, delicate tones suggesting the aura of the subject as much as it’s physical being. Walter John Beauvais was born in 1942 near Windsor. He was the grandson of French artist and lithographer Charles Henri Beauvais. Born and brought up in the Home Countries and, to all appearances, as English as his passport proclaims him, Walter Beauvais remains nevertheless a Frenchman in a very real sense, for his father, though long settled in his country, was in truth a Frenchman. Beauvais was one of Britain’s very successful artists he consistently exhibited his work in London as well as in Australia, the Channel islands, Mexico and the USA.
