Bark ST. GEORGE off South Stack
By William G. Yorke
Located in Costa Mesa, CA

GEORGE sailing past the South Stack Lighthouse, the last signaling station in a chain of twelve leading ships along the Welsh coast and out to sea from Liverpool Harbor. Painted with great detail throughout, the ship features multiple figures on deck, in full sail and with flags flying including that of her owners Hall and Fairweather of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.
The bright scene has particularly nice cloud work in the sky and features the stylized short, green swells with a touch of white spray typical of the Liverpool school artists. At her bow, another sailing ship heads...

Announcement in Village Square mid 19th century
Located in Hillsborough, NC
Fine 19th century oil painting of a bustling Austrian/Germanic village with horse, rider and various figures outside an Inn, attributed to Arthur Georg Ramberg (1819-1879), well known for figurative genre paintings. The rider is carrying a bugle, apparently announcing news to the people; men are sitting by the table drinking, one with a raised stein. Women walking by stop to listen, a man carrying a sack has stopped to watch the rider, people are in the Inn doorway, and one is looking out the window. Children pause their playing. The scene is under a large tree beside the Inn; a whole community waiting for news.
There is a great deal of detail in the scene, tree and Inn house...

Winter Trees at Moonlight at a Village in the English Countryside by 20th Century British Artist, Wendy Reeves
Art measures 40 x 20 inches
Frame measures 46 x 26 inches (framed in a vintage natural oak moulding with cream insert)
Wendy Reeves garnered acclaim for her Scottish Highland and Lakeland paintings. Born in 1944 in Ewell, Surrey, she took to her father Gordon’s craft, deciding early on that she would be a painter. Prior to her famous paintings of the British Isles, artist Wendy Reeves painted scenes from a trip she made to Spain when she was 21. It was during this time that her dream of following in her father’s footsteps became a reality, and when she returned to England she cemented her name as an artist.
Wendy Reeves' paintings showcase her talent with natural landscapes and the wildlife that inhabits them. Her work often features ochre and pink lights...
