State is known for its big-picture conceptual thinking paired with acute attention to design detail and technical execution. We thrive working with collaborative teams that push the boundaries of creativity. Our approach begins with understanding what drives our clients and asking functional and emotional questions to formulate a creative backbone and purpose behind each design decision. We incorporate brand story and an artistic approach to develop one-of-a-kind, thoughtfully collected environments that are representative of each of our clients.
State is led by Laura Arledge, an award-winning, licensed interior designer (NCIDQ). Laura studied interior design and the fine arts at Colorado State University and Florence University of the Arts (Italy). Prior to starting State in 2016, she worked with notable firms for 10 years, working on commercial, boutique hospitality, and residential projects worldwide. During this time, she led interior design + identity development for numerous new brands and re-brands, earning accolades from IIDA (International Interior Design Association) and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). Articles on her work have been published in Architectural Digest, USA Today, Luxe, Modern in Denver, Colorado Homes Lifestyles, and brochures and websites for national furniture manufacturers.
