At first glance, this is a portrait of a beautiful woman. But she is Eve Adam’s wife whose body bears the imprints of the external world: its games, achievements, noise, and expectations. It may seem that all these voices are important, yet gradually one realizes that what truly matters always hides behind a thin thread, a boundary we rarely notice. There resides a small wandering soul, transmitting all our inner states. This soul cannot hide – neither in the modern world nor in the body.
Silence is needed. A silence where one can escape the bustle, the expectations of others, the noise of life. A place to look at one’s own body, to feel its memory, to understand which memories it preserves and how they shape our emotional, psychological, and physical states. The body reacts to the world around us: to war, climate change, pharmacological experiments, spiritual or physical tragedies. Each body is an archive, a small universe within itself, accumulating associative links between text, memory, and flesh. Both the body of desire and the body of suffering matter, for it is fragile, transient, yet real.
I have always been interested in how to integrate visual, emotional, and spatial memory into the perception of the body, into lived experience, into the act of speaking into the world. How the real world became a world of realism, where the points of contact between the internal and external merged, and how art can highlight these moments. The memory and recollections of the body remind us of fundamental questions that humanity must begin to address today – in particular, the protection, integrity, and dignity of the human body.
The painting is painted on canvas with acrylic paints, but not stretched on a stretcher. Therefore, when you buy a painting, it will be well packed in a tube.
The full size of the canvas is 100x165 cm without stretching on a stretcher.
