The Geometric Collection from BassamFellows celebrates the sublimity of pure geometry championed by the Wiener Werkstätte and the Bauhaus. In the same way that designers of these two influential schools tested the liberating material properties of bentwood and tubular steel, Bassam refined a set of constraints to spirit cold-rolled tubular steel into forms that hold the horizontal planes of a seat deck or tabletop, achieving the poetic appearance of extreme lightness and suspension. These stately steel scaffolds operate as a connective tissue uniting the furniture’s functional elements in a Gesamtkunstwerk, or total work of art, a synthesis central to BassamFellows’ philosophy of formal and functional coherence in design.
