The boss, Eytan Brandes, didn't like the pin (nor did the consuming public), but he liked elements of it -- specifically the white gold parts, which have a sort of dishabille quality. He melted most of the pin, but tore off several bits and pieces to make these fabulous earrings.

The workmanship is incredible. Every stone -- all 219 of them -- is neatly backholed. Every petal and every ribbon is different. The stones vary minutely in size to perfectly accommodate their particular component.
The fierce green emerald pear cabochons show typical inclusions. One is darker and slightly larger than the other, just as the earrings themselves are not carbon copies of each other. The lighter emerald shows a small abrasion near the upper left prong. The estimated weights of these beautiful old souls are 3.2 carats and 2.8 carats. Given their age and intense color, we think it's safe to assume they're Colombian...
