Collectible antique Art Deco hand-colored (pochoir) fashion plate image entitled “Le Retour" by one of the greatest designers and illustrators, Georges Barbier (1892-1932). Le Retour is signed GB 1923. Barbier is known as one of the leading figures in the birth of the Art Deco style and renowned for his exquisite illustrations that capture the mood, fashion and atmosphere of the roaring twenties. Le Retour depicts a male warrior wearing a winged helmet and holding a spear. A woman leans on his shoulder and the two stand on a rocky outcrop before a fire. In the left distance are two figures running beneath the moon.
