In the beginning of the 20th century, Darmstadt was an important centre for the art movement of Jugendstil, the German variant of Art Nouveaux. The exhibitions of the artists' colony in 1901, 1904 - which were followed by more exhibitions in 1908 and 1914 - made a decisive breakthrough into something completely new and paved the way for a new furnishing art and for the first time directed the attention of the whole world to the growth of the young German art. The joyful willingness to make sacrifices of the companies and workshops that took part in this ideal task, the breakthrough in German Interior art towards independence, is reflected in the story and will always be remembered. And the chronicler will not forget the high share of the Ludwig Alter family in this service. Together with the artists: Patriz Huber...
