C1880 18K Five Stone Almandine Garnet Ring
Located in Baltimore, MD
The five stone 19th century ring design is one of the most enduring Victorian ring styles today. The Victorians designed five stone rings using every gemstone and combinations of gemstones imaginable.
Our ring has 5 polished flat cut almandine garnets set into a gold border and open in the back allowing in light and air. The gold work between the stones allows the ring to be worn alongside other rings without damaging the stones. We love the scroll detail on the shoulders.
The half hoop ring design and original hand drawn renderings is shown in the last image and was duplicated from the 1896 catalog of EW Streeter, with further credit to Diana Scarisbrick's book Rings: Symbols of Wealth, Power, and Affection.
The ring is a US size 6 and is approximately 4 cm high. It is shown in the images alongside an almandine garnet single stone locket...

C1980 18K Signet Ring of Tourmaline w/ Intaglio Carving of Mythical Goat
By Vasari
Located in Baltimore, MD
Substantial signet ring of tourmaline, with a delicately carved and pristine intaglio of a 2 horned goat mounted to a gorgeous gold band. The goat has important significance first in the Bible, representing sacrifice, protection, and guidance. A modern twist on the image of the goat is the acronym "greatest of all time", commonly referred to as the GOAT. The goat is also the symbol for Capricorn, the sign for everyone with birthdays between Dec 22 and Jan 19.
The intaglio is so detailed that even the texture of the animal’s fur can be seen and felt when you run your hand across the face of the stone. The goat has a pair of horns, ears and even leg joints that are meticulously carved.
The gold band is actually two gold bands circling the stone and forming a continuous double band throughout the ring. The band continues in in a circular pattern around the side mounted tourmalines to the back of the ring, with the repeating circular motifs establishing a strong design element.
In addition to the tourmaline central stone, there are 2 cabochon cut tourmalines mounted to each side. The ring is open in the back and the goat intaglio is easily seen both from the front of the ring and back.
The ring reads like an early 18th century ring but is in fact a modern ring with stamped Vasari. Vasari was a Catalan...
