This Circa 1760 chest is crafted entirely from mahogany, featuring three graduated drawers lined with white pine. The drawer fronts are veneered in flame mahogany and adorned with their original brass handles. Many craftsmen favored mahogany for its durability and rich coloring. Given the expense of procuring mahogany, items made from this wood were typically intended for affluent buyers.
