22KT Antique Gold Signet Ring with Griffon Motif, c.18th Century
Located in Braintree, GB
A rare antique gold signet ring finely crafted in high-purity 22KT gold and weighing 14.4 grams. The ring features an oval bezel deeply engraved with a griffon — a mythical creature symbolising strength, guardianship, and nobility. Likely produced in the 18th century, this ring exemplifies the classical tradition of men’s signet rings used to denote status, lineage, and family heritage. The engraved griffon motif suggests it may have belonged to a person of rank, as such mythical beasts were frequently used in family crest rings and heraldic seals. With its bold presence and sculptural engraving, this piece serves as both a wearable artwork and a genuine historical artefact. This antique gold signet ring makes a striking choice for collectors, those seeking a custom signet ring alternative with authentic provenance, or anyone looking for a meaningful men’s gold signet ring or women’s signet ring...
