From 1952 until 1963 Forster resided in Mexico, a popular destination for Canadian artists. In Mexico City Forster became fully engaged in the art scene, becoming friendly with the great Mexican artists Diego Rivera and Rufino Tamayo who influenced Forster’s works. Forster placed special emphasis on the supremacy of color in works such as Mexico-Curandero. The floating or dancing forms in this picture bear a close resemblance to Tamayo’s works especially through the enveloping, deep, full, and impressive array of colors.

The painting itself measures 42 x 64 inches so other dimension is framed. It is signed in the lower right and again on the stretcher. In a lovely wood stained frame. Through this intensity, Sarah has found expression for a range of moods that encompass the whole human condition—awe, grief, anger, and joy are all represented here in haunting forms. These are the emotions that inspired the work and they are expressed metaphorically and spiritually, directly and indirectly in her works: her awe at the beauty of the natural world touched by the hand of the divine; her anger at the willful destruction of our planet and its resources; her grief in the form of a wave crashing against rocks; and her joy and exhilaration as sunlight bursts through the branches of a willow tree. Sunyata was directly inspired by lines from Keats’ “When I have Fears:”

He had a technique of sponging over and over dabs of paint and thru sponging could create rhythmic dots that pulsate and make his canvases glow and feel alive. He did a series of work called "To Celebrate a Childhood" and this one has a curious draw to it.
It is complimented by a high quality silvered leaf frame that allows the yellow to function and glow. It measures 27 x 35 inches inside the frame and is signed with the artists cache on the back along with the estates inventory #.
This work as one can see from our in-situ photo - enlivens a room and brings a positivity and welcoming aspect to a room. Would be great too with wood tones or just about any interior as yellow is a color to punctuate with yet there is a lot of detail within this canvas that draws a viewer in to take a closer look!
