Thierry Mugler and his work have been the subject of countless museum retrospective for a reason: he is responsible for defining the fashion landscape of the late 1980s and early 1990s, with his unabashedly feminine, sensual, borderline-campy perspective. Circa 1980s, this suit is crafted from a wonderful wool bouclé in a vibrant shade of tangerine orange. The fabric has a beautiful slub to it. The jacket is complete with Mugler's signature exaggerated lapels, with a deep V giving way to a nipped waist, creating a flattering hourglass shape, along with the dropped shoulders. The jacket has a cropped silhouette making it perfect for mixing and layering with so many other pieces. This set is so well made, with so many intricate design details: flattering topstitching at the lapels and the curved detail at the hem accentuate the shapes. The skirt has a very fitted shape, with a high waist and shaping seams down the front and darts at the back. The jacket is lined while the skirt is not; the skirt closes with a zipper and 2 snaps at waistband. Made in France of 100% wool.
