Drawn from her imagination, Paula Elliott’s modern abstract works of art depict mysterious objects. In her works pastel has become the principal medium combined with charcoal, pencil and paint. Her compositions of shapes and forms acquire monumental qualities through the interplay of the occupied and negative space—capturing their intrinsic beauty. Elegant and skillful employment of line and color creates atmosphere and dimension. This pastel ground offers a corresponding function to the watercolor effects in her canvases, creating an atmospheric space - a fluid, open and indeterminate field of play. Her art would be a wonderful addition to one’s home and beautiful and very special holiday present.
Elliott holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, WI, and Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. The artist has received grants and fellowships from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Ragdale Foundation, Lake Forrest, IL, and the Noyes Foundation, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Her works are in various collections such as Saks Fifth Avenue, East Rutherford, NJ, IBM Corporation, Sterling Forest, NY, Citibank, L.A. Los Angeles, CA, and Chase Bank, New York, NY. She has recently exhibited at Furlong Gallery, University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie WI and Hampden Gallery, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Amherst, MA. This is Elliott’s third solo exhibition at Denise Bibro Fine Art, and she has exhibited extensively in New York and throughout the United States.
