Acerca del artículo

This important oil painting on canvas, although it is not signed as is almost always the case with this artist's paintings, is attributed to the great Genoese painter Luciano Borzone. It depicts, with fine and elegant strokes, the Madonna holding the baby Jesus in her arms and the Holy Rosary in her right hand. This is a very particular iconography of the ‘Madonna of the Rosary’, rendered with surprising vivacity and naturalness, especially in the extremely rare portrayal of Jesus standing with unusual realism. This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important Italian private collection and is beautified by an impressive antique frame "Salvator Rosa" in gilded wood, in good condition. Every item of our Gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts. Our company has been present on this platform for many years, with numerous sales made and just as many excellent reviews received that you can under our Furniture account. Luciano Borzone (Genoa, 1590 – Genoa, 12 July 1645) was an Italian painter. The son of Silvestro and Veronica Bertolotto, he was encouraged by his family to study literature, but abandoned this in favour of painting, influenced by his frequent visits to his uncle, the painter Filippo Bertolotto. Thanks to the interest of Alberico I Cybo-Malaspina, Prince of Massa, he entered the school of Cesare Corte. He met Giovanni Carlo Doria, for whom he created various works and whom he followed to Milan around 1614 as an art consultant. In Milan, Borzone came into contact with 17th-century Lombard art and received numerous commissions. Returning to Genoa, he opened his own workshop, specialising in large and small-format portraits. He was friends with Bernardo Castello and Gabriello Chiabrera. He also created the frontispiece for "Ra Çittara Zeneize", a collection of poems in the Ligurian language by Gian Giacomo Cavalli, which also includes two compositions by Borzone himself: "Se Ballin piggia in man ro sigorello and L'anno chi ne pareiva unna Trattuga". Borzone married the niece of music teacher Gerolamo Morello and had three sons, all of whom were painters: Francesco, Giovanni Battista and Carlo. Among his pupils, in addition to his sons, Giovanni Battista Monti, Gioacchino Assereto, Silvestro Chiesa and Baciccio are worth mentioning. His works include the altarpiece Madonna del Rosario tra i santi Domenico e Caterina da Siena (Our Lady of the Rosary between Saints Dominic and Catherine of Siena) for the church of San Giacomo in Sedrinanel in 1626. He died falling from a ladder while completing his last work, the Nativity, preserved in the chapel of the Madonna degli Angeli in the Basilica of Santissima Annunziata del Vastato in Genoa Under existing legislation, any artwork created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died can requires a license for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the license according to the destination of the artwork. Dimensions are frame included
