Ken Price Impresiones Interiores
Americana, 1935-2012
Ken Price (1935 - 2012) se licenció en Bellas Artes por la Universidad del Sur de California tras estudiar en el Instituto de Arte Chouinard y en el Instituto de Arte Otis con Peter Voulkos. Formó parte del grupo Otis, que contribuyó decisivamente a transformar la arcilla de medio artesanal en vehículo de expresión estética personal. Cualquier intento de delimitar simplemente la obra de Price en relación con el arte o la artesanía, la escultura o la cerámica, es problemático, ya que su obra atraviesa sin esfuerzo estas divisiones artificiales. En 1959, Price obtuvo un máster en la Facultad de Cerámica del Estado de Nueva York, en la Universidad Alfred. La obra de Price ha aparecido en innumerables exposiciones desde su primera instalación individual en la Galería Ferus de Los Ángeles en 1960. Ha realizado más de sesenta exposiciones individuales en galerías e instituciones, como la Galería Louver de Los Ángeles (Venecia), el Centro de Arte Walker de Minneapolis, la Colección Menil de Houston, la Galería Leo Castelli de Nueva York, el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Houston, el Museo de Arte de Santa Bárbara y el Museo de Arte del Condado de Los Ángeles. Su obra se ha incluido en numerosas exposiciones colectivas de prestigio, como Made in California, 1900-2000, Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Contemporary Ceramics, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Nueva York; Sunshine and Noir: Art in L.A. 1960-1997, UCLA Hammer Museum, Los Ángeles, y Louisiana Museum, Dinamarca; y 1981 Biennial Exhibition, Whitney Museum of American Art, Nueva York.
