Exceptional and never before seen Early American folk art oil painting. The scene appears to depict a man telling a woman bad news, presumably of her husband's passing. The subject paints a scene of early rural American life.
Housed in a beautiful contemporary tramp art frame, which would have been hand carved and whittled.
Good condition. Wear is consistent with age. Expect nicks, scratches, minor losses to paint surface. Small hole in canvas. Some wood losses to tramp art frame, as documented in photos. Frame is believed to not be original to painting.
