1950s Handkerchiefs

An affectionate memory of a bygone era, vintage handkerchiefs make heartfelt gifts appropriate for almost any occasion. This exceptional example was a gift from a member of the Nixon State Department to his French-Spanish wife in 1953. Single linen and lace handkerchief in original ribboned box. Handkerchief features a plain ivory linen ground with a faggoted edge, surrounded by a stunning 2 ¼” border of handmade French lace. fabric: linen, French lace noteworthy: may be hand washed in cool water, lay flat to dry (and iron with starch!) alterations: none condition: new/unused with a few extremely faint age discoloration spots; original ribboned box is lightly discolored at corners and inscribed “From Howard Jr. 1953” on reverse measurements: 12 ¼” wide x 12” tall label: de Guise
