Rare black felt Commissaire's bicorn of the first French Republic, at the fall of the Ancien Régime around 1793 (proclamation of the Convention). Hat with its box covered with wallpaper from the same period. A precious piece of French history, corresponding to the period known as La Terreur. Model of bicorne with large shaped lapel, adorned with a silk tricolour cockade and black beaded trimmings with a black swan feather plume (broken branch). Inner cap trimmed with black leather and sky-blue silk pongee (silk broken). Note the age-old patina and structural fragility of the bicorn, and the soiling and deformation of the box lid. Stable condition. Only to display
