About the Item

Appropriate for a multitude of occasions from mourning to tea to church to cocktails, this magnificent cartwheel hat gushes both propriety and drama thanks to its foot-long chenille dot veil. An integrated interior cap keeps it securely perched on the head without hat pins despite its impressive size and shallow crown. Straw picture hat with downturned brim slightly longer in front than in back; shallow crown with trailing grosgrain ribbon and integrated interior straw skullcap. 1’ chenille dot veil around 2/3 circumference; grosgrain interior sweatband. Unlined. material: straw, nylon veiling, chenille, grosgrain noteworthy: remove surface soiling with baby toothbrush or compressed air repairs: replaced veiling condition: very good - excellent with above repair and light sweatband soiling at forehead measurements: crown diameter: 7” front to back, 6” side to side crown circumference: 19” brim depth: 6” in front, 5 ¼” at sides, 4 ¾” in back brim circumference: 47 ½” crown height: 1 ½” veil: 12” long from brim x 32 ½” wide ribbon tails: 5 ½” long x 1” wide label: Famous-Barr (St Louis); union label size: no size tag present; comparable to modern size 22 or medium
