About the Item

Herman Delman was the glitterati's preferred footwear designer in the 1940s and 50s, having made Queen Elizabeth II's coronation pumps in 1953. Synonymous with footwear innovation, the Delman brand was responsible for designs like gladiator sandals that we take for granted today. This gorgeous pair of platform sandals showcases Delman's penchant for revealing the foot and conjures images of Carmen Miranda. Painted Moroccan-motif leather platform sandal with single strap across vamp and across base of ankle; leather sole and insole. material: leather noteworthy: clean with soft cloth repairs: none condition: very good with very light wear to insole and sole consistent with only a few wearings; heel taps have recently been replaced measurements: length: 9 3/8” from toe to heel, measured along insole width: 2 7/8” measured across widest part of sole heel: 2 5/8” with 1” platform label: Delman / Sakowitz (Houston) size: no size indicated; comparable to modern size 6 ½ B
