About the book:
The antique cameo is a symbol of refined beauty, a benchmark of refined form and subtle elegance. This album is dedicated to one of the world's largest collections of antique cameos, from the Hermitage collection. The catalog contains 500 relief gems, organized chronologically (Hellenistic and Roman periods) and by subject (portraits, symbols). Separate sections are dedicated to glass cameos and miniature sculptures made of colored stone.
The edition is printed on coated paper and lavishly illustrated. It was awarded a Silver Medal at the "Most Beautiful Books of the World" exhibition in Leipzig in 1972.
Condition:
The book is in near-excellent condition; there are some minor creases on the cover (see photo).
The case is in good condition, with some wear.
This collector's edition makes a wonderful gift for connoisseurs of ancient art, history, and museum collections.
