About the Item
This is an original 1940s black crepe blouse with a striking metallic gold swirl design. One of the best cocktail separates we've ever had, with a dropped shoulder, a gentle draping cap sleeve and a fabulous, figure-hugging shape that is well-darted and shaped at the waist. It fastens with the original fabric covered buttons that have a fine, gold circular ring.
Without doubt though, the star of the show is the wonderful spaghetti scrolling embellishment; an extraordinarily labour intensive application of a gold textured metallic thread which has been machine overstitched in a zig zag style. The material is a lightweight crepe, that is not in any way sheer, but it is very fine. The blouse itself has not been lined. It is exceptional construction - we don't see many blouses like this in flawless vintage condition from the 40s anymore. Best fit for up to a UK 8-10 or US 4.
