About the Item
Here's a hard-to-find and incredibly stunning coat from Ronald Amey, made for his Burke-Amey label and sold by Saks Fifth Avenue, most likely in the 1960s. Made from a fabulous abstract print wool from textile genius Tzaims Luksus, this piece also features a sculptural cut out collar and is fully-lined in brown silk.
Substantial and quality-made, you'd be hard-pressed to find another like it!
Made in the USA. Dry clean only. No size label, fits like a modern size M. Approximate measurements (taken flat and doubled where appropriate): shoulders - 16in, bust - 41in, waist - 42in, hips - 46in, shoulder to hem length - 45in, sleeves - 23in.
Preowned/vintage with some signs of use and prior wear: small tear to the interior lining on one underarm (see last image); some color loss to buttons (see pic 11). Fastens with abstract buttons and two hidden snaps. No content or care label/dry clean recommended.
About the designer (from Vintage Fashion Guild):
"Burke-Amey was started in 1959 by designer Ronald Amey, and his business partner, Joseph Burke. Amey was known for his use of interesting materials and big, bold prints. Joseph Burke sold his interest in the company to Amey in 1970, who changed the name of the firm to Ronald Amey, Inc. The business did not survive past the early 1970s. In the early 1980s, Amey did freelance design work for Aurura Ruffolo, Inc. He died in 1986."
