About the Item
A stunning and unusual Chinese silk shawl is hand embroidered with silk thread on black silk, with a deep macrame topped fringe on all four sides. The unusual thing is that all of the vines and leaves that you would expect to be worked in shades of green are embroidered in shades of lavender which gives the flowers and foliage a more cohesive look. There is a border of vines and flowers just above the fringe. The body of the shawl has a floral center in shades of purple, lavender, peach, blue, white, coral, and cream. The four corners all have three birds, one in many colors, another in blue, white and red and a small bird in blue, white and purple. The shawl is in very good to excellent condition.
