About the Item

The fabric of this 1940s linen floral dress is resplendent with muted tones of raspberry, ochre, teal and sage florals against a cream background. Tailored to a short-sleeve, tea-dress style with a laid-back drop-waist skirt which is detailed with intricate pleating at the front that softens as it falls towards the bottom hem. The cut-out neckline is secured at the neck with a button and soft thread loop and the bust is gathered with coordinating fabric loops to give a sweetheart neckline. This dress closes at the side with a silver-toned metal zip which is most probably original to the dress. The hem of the skirt is turned up and finished with taupe ribbon. The dress was most likely handmade by a competent seamstress and is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. We suggest it will fit sizes up to a UK 10, US 6 with a smaller waist. Our model is (5 ft 4 in / 163 cm) and size UK 6 - 8 or US 2 - 4; this had room to spare, especially in the bust. MEASUREMENTS BUST - 34 in. (86 cm) WAIST - 28 in. (71 cm) HIP - 38 in. (97 cm) LENGTH - 46 in. (117 cm)
