About the Item
American modernist Claire McCardell defined the 50's in her casual yet refined designs for the American market. Her "Go to" silhouette of a bias cut fitted bodice with full skirt is both classic and eternally flattering. Cut in a typically american fabric, a crisp cotton faille with a tiny Victorian print. Tiny mother of pearl buttons define the front of the dress with hand made loops. The bodice elongates the waist to a point and releases a super full gathered skirt with deep anchoring hem. Large portrait lapels frame the face with small tight cap sleeves. Excellent condition.
