Vintage 70s Ruffinwear by designer Clovis Ruffin 'Ruffinwear' black maxi dress, sold by Saks 5th Avenue for their "Young Dimensions" line. Made from black jersey, it fastens at the shoulder tops with a simple button and loop. Incredibly simple, yet so chic, the fabric hugs your curves, and the flutter sleeves give off ethereal vibes!
Ruffin started out by designing simple yet elegant pieces from jersey fabric, and won the COTY award in 1973, the youngest designer to do so at that time. Sadly, Ruffin passed away from AIDS in 1992.
This dress is a great example of his work: ethereal and chic, it makes the perfect travel dress, and is so easy to wear and style.
Unlined/synthetic jersey/recommend hand wash. Fastens with gold buttons on shoulder tops (see pic 3).
No size tag; fits like modern S/M: bust - 36in, waist - 27in, hips - 37in, length - 53in.
Preowned/vintage (40+ years old) with some signs of age, use and prior wear: some loose threads at hem, shoulder buttons would benefit from tightening.
