France
A redingote dress or Douillette in lévantine as shown in the lithographs of Costumes Parisiens from the First Empire and Restoration french periods. Mouse-grey silk twill double-breasted front coat dress, called Lévantine. Gathered bodice with high waist and long sleeves with small gigot. Mitten cuffs tightened with tabs and shaped buttons. Matching piping and three rows of piping at the bottom of the dress to maintain volume. Original lining in cream silk pongee. The silk is not fused and is in good condition, despite small spots and stains here and there, much less visible than in the photos. Original piece with lining and unmodified. Good condition for its age.
Dimensions: French size 36-38.
Exhibited and catalogued in France for Carnet de Bal exhibition in 2024.
