Circa 1865 France Afternoon or walking summer day dress with a large crinoline shape and its matching mantelet in printed cotton, a set so well represented and depicted in the garden scenes of the Impressionist painting. Dress open in front and matching buttons, bodice with a crew neck and large pagoda sleeves. Wide skirt finely pleated and sewn to the waist belt. Small cape or mantelet covering the shoulders. A striped woven and twill white cotton fabric called in french Jaconas (?). Cotton roller-printing of an aubergine and black geometric small motifs pattern. Large trimmings sewn on the edges of a matched printed cotton with small flowers and stripes. Matching button trim on the front (two altered buttons). Exhibited and catalogued at Villa Rosemaine...

Circa 1855/1865 France Beautiful crinoline woolen dress (for promenade or traveling) in wool cloth dating back from the Second French Empire. Beige and grey melange wool, with fringed trimmings and purple fringes. Pagoda sleeves, three rows of ruffles on the skirt, apron in addition embellished with knots on the sleeves and the waist. Five buttons trimmings attached with hooks / inner eyelets. Lining of the bustier in cream cotton. Excellent condition and color. Dimensions: shoulders 48 cm, sleeves 38 cm, size 68 cm, chest 88 cm, skirt height 106 cm, bottom 324 cm. Promenade or traveling outfits are rare in such a good condition given the wool is not moth-eaten. The trimming is violet / purple, not blue as seen on pictures !
