About the Item
A vibrant example of wearable art that is sure to turn heads. From a 1985 student project by the name "Tribe" for FIT New York. Beautifully crafted and tailored. Rather than sewing the red and pink floral and stripe motifs onto a black backing, the base layer is red with panels of pink at the hem, collar, cuff and waist. The designs were cut out from large panels of black felt and then sewn into place. The result is a jumbo floral motif throughout the body of the coat and a striped contrast throughout the points of detail mentioned above. The same technique was applied to the matching hat as well. Both the coat and hat are unlined. Soft and smooth crimson red, hot pink, and black felt. Button closures down the center of the coat as well as two slits on either side for ease of movement. The hat has a snap closure at the side that ca be worn as a chin strap or left to hang with the ornamental fringe felt tassel. Excellent, unworn condition.
