About the Item

This 1973 Marimekko shirt dress is an eyeful of color and abstraction. Marimekko started as a textile company in the 1950's producing fabrics for home decor which they eventually used to create fashionable easy to wear garments. Their mod motifs and stimulating colors are period perfect examples of the visual trends of the 1960's and 1970's. This shirt dress partially buttons at the front with breast pockets, buttoned cuffs and a coordinating sash. The mix of purple, yellow, orange, green and white are a vibrant color pop sure to please. Originally retailed at Neiman Marcus and distributed by Harvard University based 'Design Research'...very good vintage condition with one dark spot near the front hem and some honest wear to fabric from previous use. In addition, it is possible the hem was altered by the original owner to lengthen the dress. Please see photograph 9 for the spot and alteration lace as seen on the inside of the dress. SIZING MEASUREMENTS Marked a European size 36 and U.S. size 8...best fits a modern size 4 with attention to the following measurements. Bust 34" Waist (Not Belted) 33" Hips 36" Sleeve Length From Underarm to Cuff 16.25" Shoulder Length Taken Across Back From Sleeve Seam to Seam 14" Length From Shoulder to Hem 37" Length From Shoulder to Waist 15" The sash belt measures 51" from end to end x 1.5" wide
