About the Item
A very beautiful and romantic 1950s English rose print maxi dress. It has a ruched bodice with a sweetheart neckline which is gathered at the side seams. There is an attached wide sailor collar that forms the shoulder straps. Depending on how it is styled it can either be a gathered shoulder strap or actually cover the shoulder like a little caplet. The capelet has excess fabric that is stitched at the bottom of the bodice which can be tied into a bow or tucked into the neckline to create a different look.
There are three layers which account for the volume; a white acetate under-dress that is followed by a stiffened tulle petticoat and then the manmade rose print chiffon. The dress fastens to the rear with the original metal zip. Absolutely beautiful vintage condition with no issues of any note. Best fit for up to a UK 8-10 or US 4-6.
Labelled with the Jenners of Edinburgh label which was founded in 1838 and one of the oldest department stores in the world to continuously trade from the same site. In 2021 the site closed and will be restored to its former glory during a 4-year renovation.
