About the Item

This charming 1950’s floral printed silk dress is by America designer Lane Bryant, who was extolled as one of the pioneers of ready to wear plus size clothing and the first to mass produce maternity wear in the US. This lovely dress is of the softest silk fabric in pretty green, blue and purple tones and is beautifully cut to showcase an hourglass figure to its optimum. It features cute cap sleeves, a scoop neck with an oversized ruffle collar both front and reverse, a tidy waistline with a piped seam and bow detail at the centre front. The mid calf length skirt is gathered into small tuck pleats below the waistband on each hip and designed to fall straight, with a large box pleat at the front. It is lined throughout in black silk and fastens at the centre reverse with a zip. Of beautiful quality and in excellent vintage condition, would fit around a US size 12, UK size 16.
