Rare 1972 Ossie Clark for Quorum Black Moss-Crepe "Cuddly" dress
A rare and striking 1970s Ossie Clark “Cuddly” dress from the iconic Quorum line. Made from Ossie Clark’s signature black moss crepe, known for its luxurious weight and fluid drape. The dress dates to 1972 and has been well documented. It features a wrap-style bodice with long ties that secure at the back, creating a fitted waist and soft, elongating line. The skirt falls to the floor with fluid movement, while voluminous bishop sleeves taper at the cuffs and fasten with covered buttons. A large back cut-out enhances the flowing shape.
Quorum, co-founded by Alice Pollock in the 1960's, was Ossie Clark’s primary outlet for his early collections. Dresses from this line are highly sought after for their innovative tailoring, luxurious fabrics, and distinctive detailing. This piece is a standout example of Clark’s artistry and a rare find for collectors of vintage couture and 1970's London fashion.
Sized UK 14 (although this fits small). Best suited for a US 4-6.
Approximate measurements: skirt length from top of waistband to hem 44". There is no defined shoulder and the bust and waist are very difficult to take due to the adjustable wrap style.
The dress closes with a wrap/tie style and fabric-covered buttons at the wrists
