About the Item
This late 1980s or early 1990s black velvet polka dot dress by Caroline Charles would make the perfect seasonal party piece! It features a wide boat neckline with purple silk contrast edge, and puff 3/4 length sleeves which add structure to the overall silhouette. The cuff of each sleeve is also finished with the same purple edge as the neckline. The dress has a slightly dropped waist (as was common for the styles of the era) and a gathered skirt which creates definition at the hip and falls to around knee length. The fabric is a lovely thick, soft velvet, with an embroidered polka dot pattern in shades of red, yellow, green, blue, purple and lilac. It is lined in a cool silky material and black net underpinning, to add a little extra volume, and fastens down the back with a simple zip closure.
A beautiful quality dress from a stalwart of high-end British occasion wear and very fun to wear. In excellent vintage condition with no flaws or stains to note. It would best fit up to a size 8 UK, or 4 US.
