About the Item
This Guy Laroche cocktail dress really epitomises the fun spirit and dynamic silhouette trends of the 1980s. Crafted from 100% fine, soft wool, the dress features a rounded neckline and long sleeves, with a button fastening to each cuff. The dropped waist skirt is made from an emerald green and black striped silk taffeta, sewn in two layers of ruffles to the hem. There is a zip closure which runs all the way down the back of the garment, and horizontal seam detail to the bust at the front. Made in France and labelled a 36, this dress would best fit a UK 8 or US 4, and is perfect for the upcoming party season. It is in excellent vintage condition with no visible marks or flaws.
French designer Laroche was famous for his elegant colour combinations and down-to-earth attitude to haute couture, establishing his fashion house in 1956. This dress is a great example of how his experimentations with practicality and colour blended perfectly with the radical new fashions of the 80s.
