About the Item

A gown that would be right at home sledding through the steppes or attending the Mariinsky Theater, this regal dress literally drips with understated glamour. Eye-catching thanks to its dangling faceted gemstone trim, it remains subtle due to its statuesque cut and black-on-black colorway. Chill the vodka and serve the caviar! Spaghetti strap gown with gentle sweetheart bodice and princess seams; flexible stays at left and right bodice seams. Braided passementerie and nail head trim around top edge of bodice, down full length of gown front at left and right hip line, and across gown front at bust, knee and calf; dangling faceted teardrop beads and knotted tassels at all horizontal passementerie. Rear metal zipper closure with top hook and eye; fully lined in cotton duck and double lined at bust in black acetate. fabric: silk velvet, cotton duck, acetate noteworthy: dry clean only alterations: none condition: very good with light wear on some nail heads at right underarm and very light, age appropriate velvet crushing measurements: straps: 14” long with 1 cm slack to lengthen if necessary neckline opening: 10” between straps plunge: 8” from shoulder in front bust: to 36” waist: 26” hips: 52” length: 58 ½” from shoulder, 50” from underarm sweep: 72” label: Splendiferous, New York (label removed) size: vintage size 12; comparable to modern size extra small – small depending on waist
