About the Item
Cocktail ensemble, c.late 1970s-early 1980s, composed of a white tee-shirt-style top and black full skirt, both pieces constructed of sheer silk organza. This elegant and simple two-piece can take you anywhere, depending on the appropriate accessories, and bears some hallmarks of a Geoffrey Beene design, one being the curved hem at the back of the blouse, along with the French seams at the top's borders and the tiny buttons down the back. The gathered skirt falls from a regular waistband and features five horizontal pleats towards the hem; it has a side zipper with a pocket there. The back of the waistband is adorned with a black velvet bow that peaks out from the upward curve of the blouse, both supplying interest at back. The top is double faced and the skirt is fully lined. Timeless design and quality craftsmanship throughout. No labels.
