What a beautiful chic dress. Designed by Carmen Marc Valvo, this evening chemise is perfect for party or coctails. A european textered metallic in shades of gunmetal and silver is embellished with beads and sequins on front neckline and on the sleeves. At our showroom in Palm Springs, it is one of the most admired dresses. Marked size 4, it is a chemise... easy fitting it could probably be worn by a slim 6 as well.
Carmen Marc Valvo: BIO
Carmen Marc Valvo is an American fashion designer known for glamorous eveningwear and expanding his brand into diverse lines like swimwear, bridal, and eyewear. After early career work at Nina Ricci and Christian Dior, he launched his own label in 1989, building a reputation for sophisticated and accessible designs. Outside of fashion, he is a dedicated advocate for colorectal cancer awareness after his own diagnosis.
Early life and education
Grew up in a Spanish-Italian family in Westchester, New York.
Developed an early passion for art, oil painting, and making costumes.
His parents hoped he would pursue medicine, but he chose to study Fine Arts at Manhattanville College.
Later attended Parsons School of Design.
Career highlights
Began his professional career designing for Nina Ricci in Paris and then Christian Dior.
Launched his own label in 1989 with a small amount of money, focusing on eveningwear.
His collections have been featured in magazines and worn by celebrities on the red carpet.
Has expanded the brand to include numerous other lines, including swimwear, eyewear, bridal gowns, and home goods.
His swimwear for Victoria's Secret has become a bestseller.
Known for unique detailing and designs that are both elegant and modern.
Philanthropy and advocacy
After being diagnosed with colon cancer in his late forties, he became a vocal advocate for awareness and early screening.
He shares his personal story to encourage others to be their own health advocates and get screened, especially as he was just under the recommended age for screening when diagnosed.
