About the Item

Circa 1900 England Beautiful champagne silk satin wedding dress from the Edwardian period in England, designed by Madame Ernest in Leeds. Typical of the S-shaped silhouette of the Belle Epoque, this dress is in two parts, with a whalebone belted bodice closed at the front with a silk crepe crossed and bubbled jabot, echoed in the puffed sleeves. The matching skirt is stapled at the back to form a pouff with a tie for lifting. At the bottom of the skirt, strips of satin with muslin bubbles. The bodice is trimmed with appliqué embroidery of sequins and glass beads with rows of iridescent drops on the bib, bottom sleeves and waistband. Fully lined in coloured silk taffeta. There are e very few spots on the silk but the silk satin and chiffon is not fused. No major defects. Good colour and condition. Dimensions: Equivalent to size 34-35 France. Front height 136 cm, back height 160 cm, shoulders 32 cm, sleeves 35 cm, waist 66 cm, bust 81. Bottom of skirt 370 cm.
