Chester Weinberg Kimono Dress

About the Item
Of course you thought it was a Japanese kimono at first glance. Weinberg loved to travel and he spent a great deal of time in Japan. He incorporated what he saw on his travels into his designs for his clothing line.
Made from a cream silk this dress wraps to the left with a series of concealed snaps and round buttons over the left hip. The red "obi" belt is part of the garment, not a separate piece as it would be in Japan. The dress is really all about the sleeves, what an entrance you could make in this dress, traditional Japanese kimono styling is used for these elegant and dramatic sleeves.
This is a gorgeous gown for a special occasion, a private collection or for a museum. Rare, unusual and elegant it crosses cultures, continents and the ages. The dress is in excellent condition, there are a few very, very faint marks on the sleeves, you have to look hard to find them. In no way would they detract from the appearance of the gown when worn.
