About the Item

This couture lace transparent red-and-black floral-pattern silk sleeveless evening midi dress, with an eyelash-trimmed Chantilly lace boatneck and hem, is constructed with torso tucks above and below horizontal black tulle bands, while one of the four stripes defines its empire waistline. The sheath gown fastens in back with a long zip and hook-and-eye hardware. It was acquired from a NYC-based fashion collector who had this dress custom-made for her in the mid-1990s by a recent FIT graduate, whose former eponymous brand was later sold at Barney's New York. The collector was a U.S-size 4 when fitted for the dress, while it could fit a size 6 with small bust, waist and hips.
