About the Item

Without question, one of the most exquisite bridal gowns we have ever seen. Despite its 4 ½’ cathedral train, it is lighter in weight than most gowns half its length thanks to its whisper-light silk chiffon fabric. And with billowing bishop sleeves, 60 bodice and hip darts and a 2-ply ruffled neckline it would be fit for Guinevere’s castle. Ivory wedding gown with 4 ½’ train and gathered bishop sleeves with a single snap at each wrist. Round neckline trimmed with a double layer of chiffon ruffles, which continue down front center bodice to breastbone and flank 12 ornamental covered buttons. Front and back diamond shape inset waist with 30 darts above and 30 darts below waistline to accentuate bias cut skirt. 17 looped covered button closure at center back with top hook and eye; double finger loops on each side of train. Unlined (and very sheer). fabric: silk chiffon noteworthy: dry clean only alterations: reinforced waist darts where necessary condition: very good with two extremely faint spots at center bodice and one 6mm loss at rear center of skirt, about 4' from hem (see photos) measurements: neckline circumference: 18” (buttoned closed) shoulders: 13 ½” sleeve: 24 ½” from shoulder, 18” from underarm sleeve circumference: 22” at upper arm, 7” at wrist (snapped closed) bust: 40” waist: 26” hips: 42” length: 60” from shoulder to shortest point (front) of skirt, 52” from underarm to shortest point (front) of skirt; 112” from rear center neck to longest point (train) sweep: 257” train: 56” label: no label present, but couture tape reads “7481” size: no size tag present; comparable to modern size small
