Circa 1890
United States. Fancy Dress, skirt and bodice for circus, sport (?) or simply American commemoration (?) in vermilion red and grey woolen cheesecloth. Dress in two parts, sleeveless bodice, boat neckline, buttoning in front and cream cotton lining. Plastron bouillonné and pleated falbalas with piping work and buttoned patch pockets in a two-colour process. The skirt has four rows of pleated ruffles and a waistband with pleats in the back for a small pouff. Clasps in the back, side slit pocket and cream glazed chintz lining. Clean, no damage. Very good condition of colour and conservation. Provenance Collection of Gilles Labrosse. Dimensions: Equivalent to a 16/18 year old girl. Bodice height 56 cm, bust 86 cm. Skirt height 75 cm, waist 70 cm.
