This is an absolutely incredible 1980's Jean-Louis Scherrer numbered vintage 2 piece outfit! This ensemble includes a top that is similar to a bandeau that ties in the back and a pair of high low wide leg high waisted pants that give the appearance of a skirt. The lightweight fabric is an pink and black metallic silk in an abstract print. The fabric has varying matte and shiney sections - the photos give the illusion of various shades of pink, but that is only the lighting as the color is uniform throughout. The top has metal boning on the sides of the bust and 2 scarf like ties that tie in the back. The front part of the top is ruched allowing flexibility in the bust size. . The top has a double layer of fabric so the lining is the same on the inside and outside. The pants are so unique! They are fly away, palazzo, gaucho style pants. They have a seam that comes all the way down to about mid-thigh which creates a beautiful slit on the sides of the pants. Although they are quite wide leg, they follow the figure well and add a little pop of leg without showing too much! There is a thick waist band with three black vertical buttons in the front. These close with a metal zipper down the center front seam. There are unique darts on the back and pleat-like ruching on the front. The material from the fly away effect are much shorter on the sides of the hips, making the pants to look like a skirt! This is a very versatile outfit that can be worn as an evening dress alternative or during the day! Made in France. Labeled size 40. Style number (top): 474068. Style number (bottoms): 474151. Wear consistent with age and use. Overall excellent condition! There is a small tear in the hem of the pants -- measures about 1 and 1/2" in length, but seems like it would be an easy seamless repair!
